Diana and the Full Moon Party

It was getting late and Diana's hounds were barking loudly. "Wake up, Helios, brother dear, I need to ask a favor..." Yawning, he answered,"I'm sleeping! What is it?" "I need a ride to the Moon. The dogs need a run." "Take your own chariot!", he fumed. "I can't, it's still in the shop. Vulcan is still trying to remove that comet that got stuck in the wheels...blanking reindeer!" "Oh,alright, Sis. Come back at dawn and I'll take you". "Ok., I'll leave the dogs here! It is the full moon..." "Uh, give me a second to wake up and we'll go.", he glared, then told his son to ready the chariot.

As the two of them were nearing the Moon, Diana spotted a large crowd gathering with music and laughter. "Oh, Helios, it's a full moon party! We have to go back home to Olympus and get our friends!" "But...you already woke me up hours before dawn, and now you want to go back? What about my day job?" "Quiet, or I'll tell Dad about that time you..." They were interrupted by an object that whizzed by them. "Oh, alright, but just this once!"

Back on Olympus Diana ran to invite her friends to the party. She asked Narcissus, but he was so wrapped up in himself that he wasn't interested. Aphrodite loved the idea, but her husband said they were already going to Mars, so they couldn't make it. Mercury said, "Party? Love to, but I'm subbing for the FTD florist. Gotta fly!"

Just then, Diana heard one of the nymphs in an argument. "...Because I said so! I'm Thor!"he thundered. "You're Thor? I just spent twelve hours with Cupid!"

"How about Hercules? He's playing with Atlas over in the gym."Helios suggested. When they got there Diana asked Hercules, "What's that ball you guys are playing with?" "Oh, just some insignificant thing called 'Earth'. Here, Atlas, catch! Don't drop it!" he called back, and ran to join Diana.

"We could ask Bacchus...", Helios continued. "No way!", Diana protested, "The last time he rode with me he had way too much to drink and he barfed all over the Milky Way!"

"There's Pan!", she exclaimed, "Musicians always love parties." Pan happily accepted the invitation and jumped into the chariot with them to go along. "Look at the time!", fumed Helios, glancing at the sundial on his wrist,"We've got to go!"

As they were again nearing the Moon, they made out a vehicle moving rapidly away. It read,'NCC-1701'. "That chariot moves without horses!", marveled Diana. "How enterprising.", added Pan.

When they landed on the Moon they saw confetti and burst balloons lying all over the surface. "We're too late,we missed it!" cried Diana,sadly, looking around at the mess.

Taking a rock in his hand, Helios burned "Next Full Moon Party In Twenty Eight Days". "Don't worry, Sis.",he yawned,"Just remember, next month, wake me up a bit earlier..."
